OK; I've been cheating a bit. There's all this cake at the office, and I keep picking at it every time I walk by. But I've been doing the 20 min. workout (Jillian Michaels' 30 Days to Shredded) in the mornings, and walking at noon for about 2 miles... not every day, but I've been trying to be more consistent.
My new plan is to stay away from refined sugars and dairy, for now. My doctor told me to stay on a low iodine diet because the thyroid condition. Iodine is in almost everything. So that means I can eat mostly veggies and fruits. I bought lots of veggies last night, and tomorrow I will cut them up and bag 'em so I can take 'em to work for snacks.
My new motivation: Vacation in Puerto Vallarta in February! I want to look reasonably good on the beach, but most of all, I want to be strong enough to do the zipline in the jungle. Gotta work on endurance. :-)

i know it's been a year since my last weigh-in, but it's been a tough year. i was diagnosed with thyroid cancer, and had it surgically removed in june 2008, followed by radiation treatment, adjustments in medication, etc. i'm finally starting to feel like myself again. finally have energy! so i'm hoping i can start losing weight now that i have the energy and ability to focus on exercising. i'm walking 2 miles during the lunch hour, and trying to get my butt in gear with the jillian michaels dvd. she kicks a$$!!!

OK, on top of walking, I guess I'm gonna have to start counting calories. I hate that! Is there an easy way to do that? Anyone know where I can get an easy-to-read calorie chart? I got some lean cuisines with about 270 calories. My DH says that's too much! ARGH! So, in order to get him off my back, and help him understand how calories work, I need to start counting calories. I'm aiming for about 1100 to 1200 calories per day. I know, I know... I should keep a food journal and see how many calories I'm currently consuming. yuck! I swear, if it were up to DH, all I'd be having is water cuz it's got 0 calories! (not even bread and water, cuz bread is carbs). ugh... I'm just frustrated today. Sorry... just needed to vent. :-(

I started walking with my co-workers a few weeks ago. After the first two weeks, I noticed I had dropped 5 lbs.! I don't like the heat; I don't like taking a shower at work , and I could make a million other excuses. But I make an effort, and it is paying off. I'm glad I have a boss who allows me to be flexible with my lunch hour, as I have to leave about 10 min. early to change into my walking clothes, and I have to come back a little late too so I can shower and change back into my clothes. Also, our office is not stuffy, so I don't feel awkward about just pulling my wet hair back for the rest of the afternoon. Anyway, the girls at the office are great. We push each other to make the effort to walk. I am making this commitment with myself, and I won't let myself down. Now if I can just stay away from the carbs, cookies, sweets, etc. :-)

I have made a commitment to myself to walk at least 3 times per week. The girls at work have been very supportive and motivate me.
I started walking at lunch last week. Today I had the sausage and meatsauce w/out the pasta. I'm trying to cut back on carbs.
I wanna go to the beach! I wanna go to Puerto Vallarta in March 2008, and I wanna look good!
I WILL do it! I am 42 years old now. I can't eat like a teenager anymore. I need to eat smaller portions now.
