Looks great, you are correct about the sauce. Dry rub is the way to go. Beautiful plate.

Have you tried Walden farms low carb BBQ sauce. Not too bad, I use it all the time.

Read the labels on the bbq sauce. Bet you can find one that is low sugar. Even better, make your own: I make a fabulous mustard-vinegar based bbq sauce that only has 1/4 cup of brown sugar for an entire batch of sauce, so the sugar in one serving is quite low.

I mean, if you look at the calories from say 1-2 tbsp of sauce (which is really all that would coat a piece of ribs like that), it's probably not terrible anyway. It's not like you're eating it by the spoonful.

Try a Carolina gold sauce. It's easy to make, and made right, shouldn't have any added sugar at all. Sweetness comes from the apple cider vinegar.

It's not the number of carbs. I can't have starch, gums, or any sweetener other than honey. Simple sugars (fruit and honey) are easier to digest, and I'm dieting to heal now, not necessarily to lose weight. If Ed, Sharlet, or Woods would share their rub recipes, I'd be much obliged. I'll look into Carolina gold sauce recipes, too. I've had it before and liked it, but it's been long enough I forgot it existed. :)

It's about a 600 cal meal. More than normal for me, but I under-ate at breakfast and lunch.

Ostagaard -- thank you so much for this recipe. I think it will be delicious. I will be making it with cider vinegar, as my sulfite allergy precludes white wine vinegar. Let you know how it comes out.

Simple sugars are pretty much any sugars. The term 'simple sugars' is to differentiate from 'complex carbohydrates'. So, white or brown sugar are also simple sugars. If you can have simple sugars, you can have most bbq sauces. (Unless you are specifically meant to avoid refined sugars, in which case making a bbq sauce from honey would be the way to go).

Thanks for the recipe, Ostagaard. Bot, I am avoiding any carbohydrates that break down to disaccharides and have to be further processed by enzymes in the small intestines in order to be digested. Read the book Breaking the Vicious Cycle for a clear, scientifically sound explanation.
