Interesting day. Not really hungry today. No interest in cooking up some bacon or eggs, or having some pulled pork. But if there was low carb ice cream in the freezer, I'd pull it out and grab a big spoon. I see how fully hooked I am on sugar, and when there's no sugar I'll go for salt. And when no sugar or salt, give me crunch. Which is where cucumbers and jicama help me out! Just really noticing how easy it is for me to go overboard with anything high in sugar including bread. Someone posted a link to a really interesting video and I've watched it a few times now - great explanation about how we are wired (way more about how we are wired than about telling you what to eat) the Pleasure Trap. Getting back on track today - back home from vacay and though I ate too much chocolate today, I got back on track by dinner. 4 day vacay included some foods not on my plan such as 1/2 a bun on the burger, some fries, some fried fish that was way worth the carbs, and some Italian crackers that were really great. I was successful in eating small portions of those foods - incredibly small compared to how much I used to eat of those things. Also snacked a little on some candy and pretzels and popcorn that was at family house and in car on ride home - wish it wasn't there or that I could have avoided it. Just shows me that if I want to not be tempted to eat something I simply have to remove it. Sending candy coated popcorn to work with hubby as there is no way he is giving it up - at least it won't be near me. Reminding myself that my goal is to not have knee or foot pain any more - and my path to that is dropping 70 lbs. It may not work out so simply, but if I have pain, I'm determined that it won't be because I weigh too much. So onward to LCHFVY food: Low Carb, Healthy Fat, Very Yummy food! And onward to reaching my goal weight and getting rid of the pain.

Broke my 4 day fast yesterday at 3:30 - It was only my second fast so not a ton of experience. Over about 30 min I broke the fast with 25g sauerkraut for probiotics, 15g macadamias for fat, 1c broth for the love of it, 40g pork shred for protein, 25g green beans to add some veg. Felt fine 1 hr later and had 22g blackberries for the yum of it. Total 20.11 fat, 7.11 carb, 12.31 protein = 243 cal.

Went to Outback for dinner & had ribeye bone in with garlic butter sauce - very juicy and fatty and salty and I really enjoyed the part I ate - probably ate more than I should have - and veggies. Figured probably too much protein from meat, and a good amount of fat from fat around steak and garlic butter, and some carbs and other nutrients from veggies. No appetizer, no bread, no dessert was fine by me - I was actually feeling full and happy.

Today though - stomach reacted all day. Had my usual breakfast so I really don't think that was it. I think it must have been from breaking fast and dinner - too much or not the right stuff right after a fast. Reminder to self: don't do that again.

Try this next time I break my fast: Do spread out the fast break over an hour or two. Have broth as usual. Do add more pro and prebiotics: jicama, sauerkraut, raw asparagus. Then a slice of bacon or a sausage patty for some fat and protein. Do have a home cooked meal for dinner with not as much salt. For dinner try a lot of kale/choy/spinach/chard for the nutrients along with buttered salmon instead of beef and some avocado.
