I got some new running shoes last weekend. I've been very interested in Chi Running lately and these shoes are supposed to guide you to that style of running.
I tried them on the treadmill yesterday because I still don't want to get them dirty and keep them returnable if I decide they aren't for me. The website told me that there is a transition period and that for your first couple of runs not to run more than a mile. Well, I ran my mile yesterday and ouch. They train you to run more on your mid/fore foot and my calves currently feel like they are on fire. I feel like I was tiptoeing through squishy sand for hours yesterday.
I think I'm going to like the shoes though, I just think it might be a little difficult to train my body to instinctively run differently.
They are some good looking shoes though

Had a snow day today. Although it was no fun because I have an ear infection again. Im trying some home remedies because I hate antibiotics. I've never gotten infections before but since the first one in july its an almost constant ache. Definitely on the super painful side today. I know antibiotics will give me a yeast infection though and I'm really not sure what is worse.
With the hot yoga I've been sweating a lot in high humidity. I'm wondering if that has anything to do with it. It also usually hurts a little more after running. Maybe it's swimmers ear from sweat. Gross.

Hehe, I weighed in and fatsecret is telling me I'm gaining weight at a rapid rate... 14.7lb/week. I'm amused by that. I know it's not true, but I just wanted to laugh about it in my journal.
I decided this time around that I'm going to weigh in each day that I step on a scale. I need to get a better idea of my daily fluctuations and what a reasonable range I can expect to see.
Tonight is day 3 of hot yoga. I'm really liking it. It's somewhat grueling, but even so, I find myself looking forward to it. I wish it wasn't so expensive because I might want to keep going once my 10 classes are used up.
I've also had some amount of physical activity for the past six days, go me! According to the diet calendar calculations on fatsecret, I'm negative almost a lb of calories, woo hoo!

So I went to the Bikram (hot) yoga last night and it was super intense. None of the poses seemed particularly difficult, but in a 105 degree it's a different story. It's hard to balance and hold when you are slick with sweat.
It was a great workout though and I'll definitely make it to all of my 10 classes I got with the groupon. I'm going with a new friend and we already have plans to go Saturday and Monday.
There is no calories burned calculator here for it, but another one I found online estimated 1084 calories for the 90 minutes! I'm not sure how I feel about that, so I put something a little lower in my exercise diary.
Judging by numbers alone, I've burned 2887 in the past four days, I think I'll definitely be down a least a pound this week.
Chipotle night tonight, can't wait!
