I took a break for a while to test if restricting my calorie intake is really worth it. After about two weeks I can safely say it is not working in my case. I will have to try something else. I still fluctuated a lot between 63 and 61 irrespective of what I ate and when I ate it. Exercise schedule remained the same. Thus I am super frustrated.

How many calories were you on daily?

If you are exercising a lot, you are building muscle that weighs more than fat does. My boyfriend is seeing a dietician and he has been eating well and exercising, the last 2 weeks he only lost 300g, which on its own is quite demotivating when you are working so hard but when his weight composition was looked at he had lost an extra 4kg of fat and replaced that with muscle mass. There are also some weeks for me where my weight stays exactly the same but I have lost lots of cm's. Weightloss isn't only about what the scale says, there are so many reasons for your weight to fluctuate through the month but if you keep at it, it will be worth it in the end. Just also make sure you track everything. Every teaspoon of olive oil you use, every bite of a little something here because that margin between maintance calories and calorie deficit can be so small. Good luck girl, you've got this and you can do it. It's all about keeping consistent ❤️

2 kg fluctuations are normal, as long as you're not trending up.

Hi Lisa. Find this lady ,Jessie Inchauspé on the internet. She’s very helpful about glucose spikes control. I have been following some of her advice for a week (on the 2nd week now) and have felt the difference.

Aww guys, thanks so much. It's really appreciated - Id'rather be down on my weight than down in the dumps. @Jess Getting Fit: yes I do measure - can't see me getting smaller really. @Ab123@ - I am desperately fighting an upwards trend, but sometimes fluid retention totally screws my day when I weigh in and suddenly I'm 2kg+ heavier. @MhayiseNN - Did the fasting glucose test all was normal, however I do have autoimmune and I am receiving biological therapy. I saw my gastroenterologist last week and my medicine regime has been adjusted - I'm back on immune suppressants along with the Revellex. This will again have an adverse effect until my body adjusts to it in 6 weeks.

Hey lady. 2kg fluctuations a very normal especially around your time of the month. Remember a litre of water weighs 1 kg so 2kg fluctuations can even happen in the same day depending on what you eat and drink. Always weigh yourself in the morning before eating or drinking. Better yet, forget the scale. It's too unreliable to show progress, rather check cm/inches.

Have you tried maintenance breaks or refeeds?

What protocols are u using to lose fat ?

I recently started to stall, had to refeed Carbs at maintenance to reset Leptin to cut adaptive thermogenesis.

It is such a fine balance. Remember that there is a minimum intake of 1300 cal for a women and 1500 cal for a man as well. Never go below that. Our hormones affects us. There is water retention. If you do everything right. You will see a difference. It might just take time

Hi. I know what calories is important but can I ask what your macros are and percentage and what exercise are you doing? This will help a lot to see where you might need changes

@JayBoy I had a body composition and analysis done by a biokineticist - so my exercise is strictly based off those and to prevent muscle loss from having Crohns: compound exercises combined with small portions cardio and weights I had a dietician draw up a guideline diet plan as there are many foods I can no longer eat as I have mal-absorption and digestive issues due to my autoimmune. Most starches and all red meats are forbidden as they are triggers. Thus we adjusted my macro to 33/33/33 because you guessed it fats is the hardest to metabolise with Crohns and it often spills over to bile diarrhea, so to compensate for loss of healthy lipids we increased the fats (these of course comes from plant based sources). I am allergic to most types of fish so getting omega3's from fish is not sufficient.

Hi Lisa 👋. Never knew you had Crohns. That in itself makes a proper challenge on its own and I can imagine not easy. The fact that you trying and experimenting is great but at same time can cause your body to react differently and some cases negatively. So your health is so important but once you find what works best for your body with most healthy options will come with trial and error and unfortunately what works now might not work in few years time as we get older. I can see you can get fraustrated with not getting results you want and how you feel but I take my hat off to you for what you have achieved so far. The challenges you face are incredible since you going through and having Crohns. Just keep posive and enjoy the beautiful things you surrounded with.

@JayBoy8 Thanks. The hardest part is getting to grips with the infusions, which it seems is going to be life-long and their effect is similar to chemotherapy. And yes what works today doesn't work tomorrow - I find that I very quickly develop a low tolerance to foods that I try out like coucous for example. One day I can eat it, the next I'm in pain. Rice is another one. I can't eat long grain white rice, but arborio and sushi rice is fine.

Hi Lisa, may I ask why you want to lose more weight? It doesn't sound like you're obese, you're journal makes it look like your weight is pretty stable and doesn't seem like your infusions are causing weight gains. If you've been dieting a while your Leptin levels slow down metabolism. Maybe going on a maintenance calorie cycle for 4 weeks will be a good idea for overall well-being, it will definitely rest Leptin levels. With all that's going on with your Crohn's, pain, systemic stress, food sensitivity, water retention etc, is not your cognitive bandwidth better suited elsewhere, at least for a little while?

@meisel en kjempe Pain management. Being lighter really helps to manage pain. It's a little hard to explain but in short being a little lighter means that when those nasty cramps and bloating sets in you don't feel like your exploding and gasping for breath. Also my problem isn't so much leptin than it is ghrelin. I did gain 3kg after being moved from Revellex over to Remsima earlier in the year. And that was after only 1 infusion and in less than 2 weeks. Gain like that in a short period usually means something is off. So that constant "heavy" discomfort spills over to that gut-brain connection you're referring to. (Yes I also have a therapist, a neuro-coach.) I'm doing all I can with what I have.

Thank you for sharing, I really appreciate it, for what it's worth my thoughts are with you and hope you find a workable resolution, if I come across anything that may be helpful be sure I will not fail to share.
