OK, everyone has said I need more calories, and I know I need more fat. So I'm committing to something new to break the deadlock: Coffee EVERY morning with a tablespoon of coconut oil in it. I tried it this morning and it was surprisingly good. I just couldn't make myself consume a tablespoon of fat before. Now I feel STUFFED just from a cup of coffee! Good thing too... I have lunch with my dad at a Mexican place in about 2 hours. I've already checked out the menu. Taco salad is my choice. Shell will stay ON THE PLATE!

Good luck today, everyone!!!

Coconut oil is good stuff and very healthy. Nice choice. :)

I read a book about the marvels of coconut oil which made it sound like some magic elixir. So, following the book's suggestion, I took a tablespoon before going to walk my dog. Felt like I was having a heart attack! Needless to say, I don't take it. Threw out the jar I had. (Just my own experience.)

Raeka8, coconut oil should be consumed slowly at first. It causes a "heat" reaction in the body, similar to doing a full work-out, which may have caused your heart to race or feel tight. If you ever want to try it again, make sure it is organic and unrefined and start with a tsp and work your way up. Adding it to your food or coffee is better than just eating it off of the spoon. I've been using Coconut oil for years now and had a similar experience when I first used it. Cut back to a smaller amount and worked up to the 2 tbsp I used every day now. No more racing heart or tightness in the chest.

I use it instead of butter. I love it!

try two tbsp of apple cider vinegar with some lemon juice in water. Will increase your metabolism.

I've been using coconut oil also for years and never had "heart attacks" and "heatings", I felt absolutely normal, even wehn I ate it by tablespoonfulls (I happen to love the taste of it). And I fail to see anatomically and metabolism-wise exactly HOW it could cause all that.

@ Ravene Hawke - I probably will never try the coconut oil again. The one I had was all organic and pure from recommended source. Came in a jar and looked like white lard. I feel I get plenty of fat in my diet even when trying to avoid all fat. Its in practically everything you eat, except maybe veggies. I appreciate hearing this comment however. I am more sensitive to many things than others. Had I not taken off for a brisk walk after consuming it, I may not have noticed anything. I like virgin olive oil for my cooking. Lot of good science behind it.

Raeka8.. you may have a slight allergy to coconuts then. It's good that you listened to your body and eliminated it. A miracle cure for one person may be a nightmare for another when it comes to some of these Super Foods. For instance, I kept hearing all of the great benefits of goji berries, so I bought some to try... big huge mistake! I blew up like a blowfish from an allergic reaction (face and hands swelled).
