I often see people posting about post breakfast snack, post lunch snack, post dinner snack. Why? Are people really that hungry already or just eating out of habit? Snacking is a huge contributor to weight maintenance issues.

@kennamorton Some times that's just the "plan" they are on. My plan has me not eat past 6pm, but last night around 8am I felt nauseous (as in if I didn't eat something I would be sick). So I had a sugar free jello. There's all sorts of factors at play.

Kenna, snacking or having a larger number of smaller meals has been recommended for weight loss by many for a very long time. It helps maintain blood sugar to avoid binging at meals. Whether one snacks or not, the key is still in total calories per day. If one is going to eat a lot at meals then adding snacks will cause weight gain. I eat one snack in addition to my meals. Therefore I eat smaller meals than many of you and I’m often floored by the size of the meals I see posted here. To each her or his own! Sometimes I am jealous of those huge meals but my body gets hungry for snacks and I can’t do both and still lose.

Actually, snacking is just fine if your total calories are in check. For people who are active, it's actually recommended to have more frequent meals to have energy at the right time to maximize the use of nutrients before and after activity. It comes down to preference and snacking by itself isn't going to contribute to weight problems.
