A New Chapter Begins...
(Dedicated to my FS buddies!!)

Alright, you beautiful people---y'all have rejuvinated me!!! The last couple of days (or was it a whole week, almost) of heavy-duty emotions on my journal are now to be laid to rest, thanks to your supportive comments, and thanks, to the beautiful sense of community I feel here.

Today represents a new chapter. I want to start working on Accentuating the Positive from this day forth. And curb the negative thinking and the self-flagellations of any kind that I might be tempted to ressurect.

This has been such a spiritual and emotional journey for me so far--on top of the obvious, physical and lifestyle changes.

Anyhow, so, daily, I'm going to focus on some beautiful positive feelings, capture them in my mind, and lock them onto these pages. As a reminder, as an heightened awareness of the good stuff, and as a personal collection box. Sorta like my own Un-Pandora Box!!! The box, that whoever, whenever they open it, will be overcome by the positivity...and have that fill out in the world. (Of course, you know about the story of Pandora's box which when opened, had evil filtering out and fillng up in the world.

On that note, my gratitude and positive feeling today is a simple one that encapsulates everything: Thank God for Fatsecret!
I am so touched that I have made real friends here who offer real advise & genuine caring. I have people in my life here who have rescued me time and again from being my own worse enemy. I have learned SO much about diet, exercise, thinking, life, struggles, victories, real challenges, and so own. I have been entertained up the wazoo!! Who needs TV when we have FS?!! (P.S: I've cut my cable since summer and haven't missed it a bit!!). I have received answers and different perspectives on my specific concerns with all lifestyle changes in coming this far. In the last few months, I have been able to develop a lifestyle system of routines, attitudes, behavior (still in progress, but oh, so much progress from before)! My friends and family have noticed the huge changes--not just the way I look, but also in my overall way of living my life and my attitude about life in general, and my self in particular.
ok, these are but a few things I am overcome by, and thankful for.

ok, now for the practical and prosaic.

Meals and points:
Late last night: 1 wasa cracker (0.5 pts; several carbs) and lots of smoked gouda (6-8 pts? 3 carbs?)

Breakfast: fiber one cereal with soy milk (2 pts, 12 carbs?) [hopefully will help with Mr. C!]

Lunch: Mock duck stir fry

Snacks: almonds (2.5 pts; 1.5 carbs)
Atkins bar (3 pts; 2 carbs)
post-work out: protein mix with soy milk (2 pts; 2 carbs)

Dinner: Bok choy stir fry with sesame oil (1 pt), ginger, hot dried peppers, and tofu (2 pts? )
Side of a BIG SALAD with chinese cabbage, bell pepper, cherry tomatoes, celery with lemon spritzer dressing (o pts, o carbs!!!). I am happy to report in the last couple of days, I have experimented with leaving out salad dressing, and using something light like salt and pepper or just a lemon spritzer from wishbone--and I love it!! I dont miss the dressing, so don't need the unnecessary pts or carbs from that!)

Exercise: Another proud and grateful moment!!
Thanks to the encouragement and the idea from my friend, I decided to pick up the pace on running today, and have a new plan for working on building my running skills.
Starting today, for the first week, I'll run everyday for 30 mins, with intervals of 1 min running and 3 mins of walks. Next week will be a little different, and will evaluate that at the end of this week.

So, today, I did 40 mins (10 mins increased from usual!!). 5 mins of warmup and 5 mins of cooldown at 3.5 mph, and 1 min run intervals at 4.8 mph, and 3 mins brisk walk intervals at 3.7 mph. Increased the grade by 0.5 to 4.5. I wasn't tired, but sweated well, and burned over a 100 calories more than usual!! 340k, amd 2.56 miles total!!

I also did 3 sets of lateral raises with 12 reps in each set with 12 pd weights, and similar sets for tricep extensions.


Oh, and TOM arrived today--a normal painful presence, but haven't noticed it a bit! And Mr. C is lurking around somewhere too...but sorta out of mind...weight actually dropped this morning! Go figure!!

Awesome, awesome job...physically, emotionally & spiritually! You are on a roll! Great job having more REAL fiber today. You'll feel better tomorrow, I bet! Great job on the interval run, you're metabolism is going to jump. Fabulous job on all fronts. Keep it up.

I am so happy for you! Your journal just OOOOZED wih positivity! Big smile on my face for you! Love the idea of the UN-Pandora's box. Every morning, on my drive to work, I think of all the things I'm greatful for. FS is certainly on that list (and that includes you, for sure!) Can't wait to see what's next on the horizon for you. Oh, and smoked gouda? YUM!!! One of my favorites!

Beautiful journal. All the credit doesn't go to your buddies, you deserve some too for sticking to this and losing LOTS of weight. You listened and used the great advice offered and did the same for your buddies so THANK YOU!

I'm SO grateful I've found FS also and been able to make some real 'cyber-friends' that can really lift my overall being! Thanks so much for your journal.  I have been sitting in my own dark corner lately opening and closing my Pandora's box and inhaling the evil spilling forth.  I LOVE the idea of the Un-Pandora's Box, and just make make one so that every day I can put something in it to remind me of how far I've come and how I got there.  What a great way to begin the slide out of the slump.  Thanks for the inspiration.
