Ooo-ee! I ate way too much. I cooked a porterhouse steak that I dry-aged the day before and some pork belly, in the rendered ribeye fat that I had carved off of the ribeye roll. Seared both meats on both sides in the broiler, then set the steak on 300 degrees in the middle of the oven for 7 minutes, for rare/medium rare at 130 degrees. The pork belly I broiled on both sides for 4 1/2 minutes to a temperate of 160. They tasted so good I couldn't stop eating them. But my oh my! I am paying the price, believe me. I've learned my lesson. But wow! I'd be proud to serve that to dinner guests.

During my morning walk yesterday, I listened to a Chris Williamson podcast on YouTube. He brought on a guest, Johann Hari, who wrote the book, 'Ozempic: Miracle Weight Loss Drug or a Secret Killer?'. He researched the pros and cons of Ozempic. What I found interesting during the discussion was the hormone GLP-1. That it is not only in the body but in the brain. GLP-1 sends out the signal that we are satiated, but a diet of processed foods shuts it down and when presented with healthy foods again, they refused to eat those foods, preferring the processed manufactured foods instead. It was a fascinating discussion. Food for thought.

Good morning Concarne~ I listen to the Williamson podcast (Modern Wisdom) sometimes too, and I’ve not heard the Johann Hari interview there yet, but I’m halfway thru his interview with Bari Weiss and it’s answering all my Ozempic related questions.. and especially fascinating because they are both on it and have had really positive experiences. Yeah, I agree that the cheesecake/rat experiment is fascinating- how junk food affects (destroys) our satiety signaling. Btw- listening to health related podcasts and books (while walking and cooking) was a key part to my becoming healthy and kicking old eating patterns. I began this in 2012 and this activity still keeps me focused..and frankly, after thousands of hours of listening, I’ve gleaned a lot and can hang with the nerdiest of metabolic researchers. : )

Hey Cici! Bari Weiss truly stands out in journalism. I'll definitely need to check that out. I'm quite intrigued by this subject and much more. It's clear that altering our mindset is crucial for transforming our behaviors, which is fundamental to improving our health. We can't continue the same actions and hope for different outcomes. Just like you, I'm all about diving deep into these podcasts. I soak it all up like a sponge. ;)
