Hi, Ayesha! I got your message on my journal entry, but I figured I would respond here so that you would have it longer. I'm sorry you're feeling a bit down about your diet, but don't let it get to you! The weight loss journey is a tough one, and we all struggle with it. I'd be glad to tell you what I'm doing, but maybe I can help you even better if you tell me what areas you are having the most trouble with... Are you struggling most with finding a diet that works for you? Or you have a diet you like, but have trouble keeping to it? Do you workout? Let me know what you're finding the hardest part to deal with, and maybe I can help you better. As for me, I've been doing a few things. First, I have been doing one part of something that is called "intermittent fasting" (usually abbreviated "IF"). IF is where you creatively shift your calories out of one time-frame, and put them in another, but your overall calories remain the same. The one I do is called a "16:8", where I fast entirely for 16 hours a day, and then for 8 hours (for me, from noon until 8PM) I eat all my planned daily calories. My daily calories are no less than I would have otherwise eaten, but the fasting really helps me to *not worry about food at all* during times I shouldn't be eating. Then for the 8 hours I can eat, there is more food per hour than if I didn't do the fasting, so the food I do get is very satisfying. Additionally, I try to hit at least 80 grams of protein every day. For me, that usually means at least one or two protein shakes a day. Other than that, I try to keep most of my portion sizes smaller than normal, drink A LOT of water, get lots of sleep. Up until I caught a really bad cold, I was also working out at least 3 or 4 days a week (a half hour of cardio, and an hour of weights). All these things together really helped me out. Let me know where you're at on things, how you're doing and what you've been having trouble with. I'd be glad to help! BEST WISHES and KEEP SMILING! Smiling burns more calories. :D

That's ok, Ayesha. Your English is much better than my Hindi will ever be! :D Can I ask you a few things? 1) How tall are you, and 2) your age? It will help me to get a better idea of how many calories you should be getting every day. Also, 3) if you record all your eating (all the food you eat) and your daily activity in the exercise / activity log (even things like "desk work" and "house work" can be logged in the activity log) for about a week, it will help a lot to see how many calories you are getting, vs how many calories you are *using*. I can help you much more if you do that for about a week... Also, 4) if you have never been to a doctor to have your thyroid checked, you might want to do that. It could be that you are struggling against a physical problem with your thyroid... Let me know what you think of these four things...
