I did but my range for my height seems pretty wide.. 130-158 lbs. is ideal but I want to be at the lighter end I guess. Just wondering if that’s what I should aim for..

At your height and weight, your BMI would be 21.6. That's pretty low. But, it's all individual. Your age also plays into it. Wherever you are comfortable. The French have the lowest BMI average of the Western cultures, around 23.4%.

I chose the mid range initially. But as I lost weight, I adjusted to 5 lbs higher because I looked in the mirror and was like - I like this weight. Just keep going until that happens. Some like to create a "buffer" and make goal below the weight they actually want to achieve.

I suppose 140 would be maintainable and healthy weight. I will be happy if I can achieve that.

Sounds good, Amber. Best of luck in achieving your goal.

Mine has a wide range as well. 125 t0 150 or something like that. However , I look very ill at 125 so I aim for 135. It's all about where you feel the beat :)

I am positive you can do it!

@Erquiaga...How do the French have the lowest BMI - their food is too good! I'd be fat if I lived there.

It's amazing. A French woman wrote a book about how the French stay thin. They also worry about their weight more than any other culture. You're right. How can you eat a sandwich with butter, brie, and ham and stay thin?!?

Don't worry about BMI. It can be misleading. Focus on getting you BF% (Body Fat Percentage) to a healthy range.

I’d say, what makes you comfortable and healthy. And what’s realistic for YOUR body and metabolism. It depends on a lot of parameters including your bone frame. BMI does not always work. Start with something real. Let’s say 140. And then you’ll advise. Oh and there are more and more overweight French people, believe me. It’s like plague.

@Velvetee...compared to America, France is less obese but worldwide (by population %), I was surprised they are higher than I expected https://renewbariatrics.com/obesity-rank-by-countries/

My BMI is around 19 and I absolutely don’t look sick. It’s not the number itself, it’s what you see in the mirror that matters. The average French BMI (24) would be too much for me.

@AMT I see a lot of overweight women when I pick up my kid at school. We are #13 in the world... just after Germany and the UK, yes. Most people think they eat healthy whilst they just consume tons of sugar. Add to that a wine centred culture... and you’ll have an ever lasting belly starting from 30 and even earlier.

Yup...wine was my problem. I had the alcohol belly. Kids used to ask if I were pregnant. Now, I limit my Saturday and Sunday to two drink max - unless it's a special occasion.
