Hi, my name is Joy and I turn 60 this month. I was overweight as a kid until the age of 16. I learned at a young age to watch what I ate to keep my weight down or I would get picked on.
I got married at 19 and had a boy when I was 20 and 15 months later had another boy. I discovered aerobics on t.v. I became an aerobics instructor at the age of 25 and also did weight lifting. That was the best shape I had ever been. Through the years I let thongs go, gain some weight, get back in shape etc. etc.

I decided in July that I had gotten heavy enough, thank you and started getting back into shape and losing weight. I t was different this time...I discovered that nearing 60 if I overdid it, I didn't jist get sore; I got injured. It took trial and error to find a balance for getting in shape without hurting myself. I discovered some exercise apps that worked for me so I stuck with them. The progress is slow but I'll take what I can get.

I have had lower back problems for years. I had 2 back injuries years ago and figured being in my early 50's when they happened that they hadn't healed right. I couldn't work without a back brace since that time. However shortly before I quit my last job my back would hurt even with a brace on. I finally broke down and got 4 lumbar xrays and got a call back that I had. "significant degenerative joint disease". Since then I've been doing some simple back exercises from you tube and I'm make progress in mobility.

I now have a reason to maintain my fitness levels and keep my weight down for health reasons.
