With weight loss, a person will buy things they might've never purchased before, such as certain foods (For me, it was Arugula and Flax Meal). Or if they're fortunate and stick to their effective diet, he or she will have to replace things that no longer fit. (Again, been there, done that.)

But last week I bought something that I didn't need. I just thought it was cute, and it's purchase got me to noticing all of the other things that have changed in my new low-carb world. Surprisingly, it's not just my grocery list!

The "cute" item I bought was a decorative, painted plaque with a quote that I've hung in my bathroom. The quote, which is what tickled my fancy, reads: "I will not let the scale steal my happiness."

But the plaque isn't the only thing that's new in my life. Sure there's the smaller clothes in the closet and the little lacy lingerie in the dresser drawers (my hubby's favorite *snicker*), but there's also a treadmill in my bedroom and no, it's not used as a coat rack/catch-all. I have a few pairs of hand-weights, too, that I use along with a new pedometer. And at work, I recently replaced my high-back executive chair with an exercise ball chair...one of the most fun pieces of office equipment I've ever had!

I never used to exercise at all. I still don't have a "gym membership" and probably won't ever get one. But I recognize now just how much things have changed, how much I've changed, and I'm talking about more than just a number on the scale. I now find the time to "get up and move" much more often than before, whether that's taking breaks at work to stretch and refocus or strolling on the treadmill with my hand-weights while watching one of my favorite shows. I'm more energetic. I'm a more positive, upbeat person. And now I can even chuckle at the plaque on the wall as I step on the scale each morning before sunup.

FINALLY hit the 140's! Barely, but enough to count. :)

Being on a modified version of Atkins (and thanks to FatSecret, too) it only took 7 months and 23 days. My ultimate goal is 145—That's what I weighed during my 20s, but I still have a few more pounds to go to reach that. Still, I feel I've already succeeded, so now it's time to stay focused and figure out how to stay here. I know, I know; Eat healthy and stay active. I intend to do just that, but I've yet to determine my ACE level for weight maintenance, so I'll need to do a little experimenting, which I'm sure will cause the scale readings to fluctuate. I do look forward to this "experiment" though! Just today, I made the ever-popular flax-based "Muffin In a Minute" (or MIM) for the very first time. Ate it with a little bit of low-carb grape jelly, and it was really good!

Who knew "dieting" could be so much fun? LOL
