Be sure you're looking at net carbs, fiber won't hurt ya!

Atkins is net carbs which means carbs minus fibre. But yeah, carbs are killers and if you don't follow the plan exactly, you'll fail. If you're in induction, no more than 20 net carbs.

Yes, what helped me in the beginning was to plan out and enter what I was going to eat and see how it added up. If it was too high I deleted and started again.

I just did a quick search and it looks like there are NO fruits allowed on Atkins Induction. I know that most fruit tends to be fairly high in carbs. I did find a few lists that provided NET carbs and the quantity allowed on Atkins phases after Induction. The first few days of a new plan can definitely take some adjustments. Best wishes for your success in whatever you choose!

I was just looking over your food journal to see if I could assist with any pointers, and I noticed that most of the 'ATKINS' brand foods that you are eating are extremely high in carbs. I never did Atkins, but I did do the South Beach Diet back in the day, and I believe its very similar. Either way, here is the bare bones of it. In order to lose weight, you must eliminate the carbs. First rule of thumb is this: If it contains white sugar or white flour, its a no no. That's the easiest way to know whether what you are eating is going wind up sticking around for a while. Just break down the ingredients of whatever it is you are eating and ask yourself, "Does this have sugar or flour?" If the answer is yes, then don't eat it. Cut out the bread, pasta, rice, and potatoes. And in the beginning you are going to want to cut out fruits and most dairy also. Low fat cheese is a staple in low-carbing, but milks and creams are sketchy. It all sounds so easy and simple, but we all know how difficult it is to change your way of eating. You have a step up on a lot of people, because you are reaching out for help and putting your first foot forward. Keep on pushing thru, you got this!

If you go to the www.atkins.com website you can get a full list of what is and isn't allowed in each phase. They also have recipes that are listed as suitable for each phase.

Go and change what carbs are reported. Sounds like you are counting all carbs, when you don't count fiber carbs.

You definitely need to read up on how to do Atkins or any other low-carb way of eating. White rice, bread, subway sandwiches...those are almost pure carbs except for the inside of the sandwich. As lots of people suggested, the Atkins site is good, and you can also google "high fat low carb" and you'll find lots of resources out there. Lots of LCHF groups on the FS site too, so you might join a few. It's a different WOE but I've done it for over 10 years and love it!! Good luck!!

Change to Net Carb setting. But still NO Fruit! If you go to Subway, get the salad, and watch the dressing. O & V is best. Or if you go in morning get the flat bread breakfast sandwich, and throw away the bread - the egg is sturdy enough to hold your fixin's.

Be careful about those Atkins bars, too. They cause many people (me included) to stall due to the sugar alcohols, which are not technically carbs but lots of people process them like carbs. Your best bet is to lay off them and stick with real food.

Yesss berly1. That's pretty much the difference between the old atkins and the new version. Dr. Atkins encouraged people to eat real food. This new version endorses use of all kinds of Atkins food like products. I don't think he'd approve at all of the use of them. I think use of them on occasion when in a pinch is perfectly fine, but relying on them regularly no bueno.
