So I went to see my medicine therapy doctor earlier today and spoke to him about my weight concerns. He actually agreed the med are most to blame. Doxepin is a medication with a large percentile of weigh gain in patients because it causes lack of hunger satisfaction. I used to wake up at night and eat large meals up to two times a night. He decided to keep me on Abilify which is mood stabilizer and clonidine which is sleep medication. These medication have low to none percentile of weigh gain in patients. The anti-depressants medication called doxepin, I'm going to take lower dose for ten days and then stop according to my doctor recommendation.

I am a new member, but I was on a medication that made me feel like I had not eaten about a half an hour after I ate supper I would feel like I had not eaten. I was taking prednisone because of my kidney transplant. I was glad that new studies showed some people could get off of prednisone instead of being on it for the rest of your life. Gleny 1220, do you feel like your Abilify works for your mood stabilizer? Can I ask what dose are you taking? Just curious because I was on Abilify also, but I think I was on too low of a dose. I don't feel like my Lexapro helps as much anymore, so was thinking about trying Abilify again, but a higher dose.

Hi tiny beast, I am taking 15 mg of Abilify. It does work cause once I stopped them I felt horrible. As soon as began to take them again, I felt better emotionally. Check with your doctor to see what's best for you.

So glad you consulted your doctor and are going off the doxepin in a safe manner and also that there are alternatives that can work for you. It's funny how some meds cause hunger. I once had an antibiotic that made me feel hollowed-out hungry an hour after taking it.
