Can constipation ruin your weigh in? I haven't used the bathroom in three days. I'm worried. I think I should take a fiber tablet before my weigh in. My anti-depressants side effects are annoying.

Waste can affect our weight as can water retention. Sorry to hear about the troubles w/ your meds. I hope you get to feel better and meet your goals!

Yogurt helps me avoid constipation. Probiotics for the win.

I find that the food moving through my digestive system can easily add 6-8 pounds to my "regular" weight, if you take my meaning, especially if I've eaten a big meal. I'd imagine being constipated would have a similar effect. One thing that works for me: Drink a whole lot of water in a short period of time--like, 32-64 ounces in 10 minutes or so. Along with plenty of fiber, that almost always gets me moving.

Being "stopped up" certainly means weighing more than you'd otherwise weigh if the waste wasn't in your body. As already suggested, try drinking plenty of water, probiotics, make sure you're you're getting enough fiber from good sources.

it can totally ruin a weigh in ... plus generally not good .. extra water, fiber, prunes... it's only been 3 days so it's not like you need an enama yet or anything ... but you really should keep an eye on that. I'd say take a daily stool softener but your system can become dependant on those and laxatives.... just be sure to get fiber and water daily. . forever.

A good strong cup of coffee usually does the trick for me. Keep in mind that change in bowel habits is normal for dieting. "Normal" bowel movements can be once per day or once per week.

Thank you for your suggestions...I'll see what I can do. I totally forgot about prunes. Now I remember prunes usually work for me.

You might want to consider adding more fiber to your diet...

Hey Gleny, worry not about your weigh in. It's only a number on your journey. Those numbers go up and go down. Hopefully over time, there's more downs than ups.

Maybe a gentle laxative like Miralax?

My daughter had bad constipation (1 in 2 weeks bad!!) and we tried the Miralax and it was very gentle to her, worked overnight, no running to the bathroom. You can get it at any drugstore. The other thing I have tried in the past is a Colonic... Basically poop vacuuming. I've done it a couple of times and you'd be surprised at the little rocks that form and stuck to your intestines over the years! They have them all over the place in L.A. There might be someone who does it where you live! It's not a md who does it, usually a skilled person. Afterwards, I felt really good, clean, emptied, and no more decaying poop inside of me. The first time worked better, maybe because it was the 1st time. They might call it hydrotherapy or Colonics, maybe butt cleaning!! Lol !!
