Proud moment right here...

Went to lunch with my guy today. He wanted to Chili's. His favorite thing about Chili's is the bottomless chips with salsa. I was sitting across the table from him, and about 3 different times I had to talk myself out of eating those delicious, fresh cooked tortilla chips. But in the end, this is what I decided...

I did not want to eat the chips because I am committed to making this work. I want my Summer 2015 body back before Summer 2016, and cheating on food is only cheating myself. I can tell myself that the 3 tortilla chips didn't mean anything, but in reality, they did mean something, and my waist knows it better than anything else.

Then I remembered this:

I looked over my food journal for yesterday, and if I would have not eaten the French fries for dinner, and the BLT for late night snack, my carb intake for the day would have been under 20 carbs. That is my goal number, under 20 per day. But everyday, I cheat a little bit, and I wind up with my carb count over 50, and sometimes even over 100. But I thought to myself...Ya know, I don't want those chips because I want to succeed and there is no room for failure at this point.

And I didn't eat the chips.

And I'm extremely proud, that I could overcome that obstacle, with the bowl sitting right there in front of me for the whole meal.

Kudos to me.

Great job! Maybe you need to start with getting your daily carbs below a less daunting but more regularly achievable number and then move it down gradually from there?

@KPWCALORIES---Its not the daily carb target that's the problem. Its French Fries that's the problem. The French fries and 2 pieces of bread that I ate with the BLT was 69% of my carbs for the day. I didn't need either of those things. I ate them because I succumbed to a weakness. 20-30 carbs a day is VERY manageable for me, I just have to learn to say NO to the French Fries.

Proud of you, too! It's the little successes that lead to that big success we all hope to achieve.

Ah, thought you couldn't resist going over with those high carb items and that's why you succumbed to them. But it was the devil fries--got it! Good luck evading them in future!

Potatoes in any form especially fried are bad. I have gotten into a mindset of anticipating my possible cheat times ahead, and make adjustments, as such. This way, I don't, so much, worry about what I'm going to indulge in. I have found skipping meal, especially breakfast helpful. Today, I'm in celebration mode with this new feeling of lightness.
