Went over my labs with the doctor today. Cholesterol is 149, so I told him I want to quit the statins and Zetia. He reluctantly agreed, but wants to run new labs in 2 months and I agreed. A1C was 5.7 and we celebrated! Down 5 pounds since I saw him last and all other labs were good too. Only negative is my stinkin' blood pressure! I had hoped to be able to drop some of the BP meds by now, but that is not possible yet. I am really happy about stopping the statins.

The truth on Statins is that they're pretty much useless. Drug manufacture study of the top 5% of 380,000 men with the highest cholesterol numbers studied for 7.2 years found that statins helped 8 men....8. We know statins are harmful, they destroy your mitochondria, and we know that drug companies Have lobbied and successfully lowered the "high" number to get more people on statins. We know women over 50 with high Cholesterol live longer than women with low Cholesterol. In the end it's about money....Billions of dollars per year. They don't care about you, get off that stuff and stay away...... Good for you!

Congratulation's! I'm glad to read that every time you've had a doctor's appointment lately you are getting one more step to a healthier you. Please keep in mind some BP sometimes is genetics. Just saying. Also, thank you for your kind word's on my journal. Wishing a wonderful weekend full of healthy choices.

I am anxious to see if I have less muscle and joint pain. I have arthritis so I know I won't be pain free, but I am already so happy with how much better I feel after getting the sugar and other refined carbs out of my system. I do have a cardiac stent and my doctor is a worry fart, so I think I'm about to give him a breakdown over the change in meds! Poor guy!

You have done so very well! I'm a big fan of low carb and like you (read your bio), I find it's the only diet I can stay on. Beyond that, it seems to be the best diet for improving your health markers. When I hear about the genetic component of blood pressure I think that maybe what is involved there is still dictated by what we eat. People tend to eat the same way their families do. If that was high carb and you're doing something different, all bets are off. I've been reading about genes lately and it seems that what genes are turned on or off is largely determined by what we do and what - surprise here - we believe. I bet that as you get closer to goal your BP will drop.
