I was disappointed this morning to see the scale had not budged. Going to try that 5:2 approach starting tomorrow. Good luck!

I honestly wasn’t sure why I lost a little. I didn’t even count cals yesterday. Isn’t the body weird? The harder you try the harder it fights back lol. Rain all day today. 🌧🌂. What is the 5:2 way? Are you getting your sleep?

Yes, it's weird, I agree! When I expect a drop, nothing. When I don't - then I get one. The 5:2 is an intermittent fasting plan where you eat your normal calories that you have been 5 out of 7 days, the other 2 you drop down to 500 (women) - 600 (men) but on unconsecutive days. I just found out about this plan, thought it might be easier. We'll see! Ive been getting about 7 hrs sleep nightly.

Good job!

Windy Day, the 5:2 approach sounds good! I think I might try it, too, but with a bit more calories on the two days (since having three meals a day is somewhat of a nonnegotiable for me right now). Looking forward to seeing how effective it is.

The 5:2 sounds a bit too involved for me. I’m still trying to figure out if intermittent is right for me. Once plateaued it doesn’t really help. What have you found?

Not sure if you’re asking me or Windy, but IF has been a mixed bag for me. In 2020, I had a few months of eating in a short window (noon to 7 pm, no breakfast), and it was effective until it wasn’t. When work got more stressful, my eating pattern just got chaotic—some days I HAD to have breakfast, some days I was still fasting in the mornings but overeating in the evening, etc). I gained everything I lost back, plus some. I’m definitely not going back to that pattern. However, now that I have figured out and happily settled into a three-meals-a-day pattern, I noticed it helps a lot if my dinner is earlier than usual and there is quite a few hours of fasting before bed. It really helps with seeing the scale move down the next morning. So that would be a new spin on the IF idea, and with the 5:2 pattern just minimizing lunch or dinner on two days a week. It’s hard for me to get the calorie average into a good range without some low-ish days in a week anyway.

Ken, i just seem to be at a loss right now to be honest. Honestly 16/8 schedule has pretty much been mhy life's eating pattern even when I was thin. So has it worked for me? I cant say. And Im with you, eating shouldnt have to consume so much time and thought, yet it does. Im going to give the 5:2 a try bc I heck why not. What have I got to lose? LOL pun pun pun. :D

Agnes that sounds just about like where I am at. And I cant go back and I need to see some progress bc honestly when the scale moves I get really motivated. But when it goes weeeks even months no drop, I really begin to feel defeated. Im going to try for about 7-800 cals onb the low days, Agnes. Tomorrow is my first low day. Wishing us both good luck!

Windy <chuckle chuckle>. At any rate I wish you luck and maybe your body gets the message. Lol

Thankyou Ken, I sure hope it does as well!! If I could lose even 2 lbs a month... But hey what comes off fast goes back on fast I hear. So maybe a silver lining in this after all. We'll see. Good luck!

Agnes I understand how waking up the desire to eat can be there and it then forces you to in essence starve your body in that time frame. I’ve just been hungrier in the last few weeks. It’s hard to stay on track. I’m settled in at 192 now. Maybe that’s where it all ends?

Chicago Ken - Dr. Yoni Freedhoff talks about a "happy weight" -- the lowest weight you can get to while still enjoying a happy life and not making yourself insane trying to maintain it. I know when I got to 130 and tried to go for 125, it was a total no-go. I rebounded a little bit, but think I'm in happy weight territory just under 135. Only you can decide what works for you, whether it ends for you here, and whether you can be content there. The important thing is to keep off what you've lost. Whatever direction you decide to go, I'm rooting for you!

Wyo that is exactly where I’m at. Thanks for summing it up so well for me. 😀
