I agree on trying to count what you eat, to the best of your knowledge. The last day I had a "blow it" day, even though I wasn't expecting it, it really showed me why I gained so much weight. It made it easier to get back on track. Yes, I had to fight carb/sugar overload, but at least I didn't turn it into a two month eatfest that caused me to gain 15 lbs back. :/ I agree with Brandy.
