Sooooooo confused. After yesterdays delicious debacle i lost almost a whole pound. I dont get it. Does this mean i can up my calories more and maintain? Going to try and do 1400 today and see what happens. So baffling.

So if I went keto today when bulking and ate 4k calories of fat and protein and dropped my usual 400-450 games of carbs to 20, I would drop a lot of weight despite adding mostly fat to my frame. Potentially a 4 pound loss on the scale despite a surplus. Mostly muscle volume. It would be sad. 😁

What Diablo is saying is right on. You can manipulate your weight by eating different macros. Notice I said weight and not fat. It’s mostly water. But it never hurts to experiment with yourself, it’s how we figure crap out! Let us know! 👍🏻😊

Thanks Debra! Will do Kenny. Trying to be at 1300-1400 which is substantially higher for me than 1100 I’ve been trying. Will see what tomorrow says. Im not a lightly boned girl probably medium bottom half small top half so even tho this was a weight i was at when i was younger i think its a little too small. Don’t want to go down anymore just want to hold steady and get stronger. So exactly, experimenting.

Yea yoh, so if you take a look at my weight and food diary you will see a lot of up n down swings. It correlates with high n low carbs. The important thing is I know I’m on a deficit. So you see it trending lower. Like Diablo says I can eat a surplus in keto and it will show me weightloss, but that’s water loss masking fat deposits. That why some some fail on keto after the 1st initial water loss and they start to see a rise cuz they enjoy that way of eating.

Super, what should i consider as high carbs in a day? I think im usually well over 100 even tho im concentrating on protein and staying away from starchy carbs. I usually weigh at 8:30 so will see what happens today. Started new pre-opp supplements surgeon wants me on and got violently ill yesterday so today will be interesting🤬🤯🤨

I can’t tell you yoh. I’ve never dabbled in cals that low. But it would depend on your musculature and activity. Thing carbs is the first source of energy used. So you expell it easily and refill it back up easily. Fats are the secondary ones that’s why it’s harder to burn fat.

One day of eating differently isn't a trend or something that should result in you making changes...wait it out and see what happens.

So im taking my yummy lunch out as a win. Weighed same as yesterday today. Honee-i didnt mean i was going to make negative changes just that i would be more cognizant and try and find nutritional info prior to ordering at least until i see how my body handles that type of food from time to time. I used to eat out all the time but i ran in those days and lifted weights 5x a week. Now i walk and workout 2x sometimes 3X a week. Learning curve. Super under all this skin laxity im actually pretty muscular. Guessing muscle memory helped from decades in gym prior to illness. These conversations where you guys all have information about carbs, burning fats, differing food ideas are so so welcomed by me. I feel like im learning so much. Much different than the 80’s and 90’s bodybuilding world i trained in once upon a time (not that i was bodybuilding just where i worked out and who my friends were). Thinking has really changed.

It could be either that your efforts the rest of the week made up for yesterday or the increased calories increased your metabolism.

Super i would be EXCITED to have a good poop. Such a rare occurrence. I will mark my calendar to notify you immediately next time i have one….deee dee doo doo walkin and fartin in the woods animal loving sweet boy🥰😂. Im more hoping SLINERUD is right. Shooting for 1300 calories again today. Stay tuned🤷‍♀️💩

There’s no secret to metabolism being raise.. youll feel more energetic, you’ll be willing to move more, you’ll have more body animation. But I’m sorry you’re not raising your metabolism to burn an extra 2k calories in a day. It could play a part in it. Mostly it’ll be water/waste

It was an extra 700-800 calories over not 2000. My metabolism has improved a bit from a year ago just not on par with a normal healthy 59 year old female who is as active as i am. I should be able to maintain on 1800-2000 but sadly…you are most likely and unfortunately right. Will keep monitoring it tho. Super happy scale didnt go up today. You be careful out there in that hot humid weather if you are lifting for 21/2 hours a day brother.

Ps-i have bumped up my walks to 8-9 miles a day starting about 2 weeks ago that most likely helped. Just remembered that.

No I mean for the .8lbs to be fat tissues you would have to burn a around 2k calories extra. But I’m all for you adding more cals tho. Experiment!

Thanks super i am. My window is closing i leave a week from next Sunday for California and following Wednesday is that big vanity only skin removal surgery where i will have 45 days of no exercise other than walking as tolerated. Im a little nervous about that. Ive been told i wont even be able to feed myself for first couple weeks. Hope thats not exactly right. But between now and then im cautiously moving up the calories.
