Dear Diary,
242 - That's the terrible reading on my glucose meter tonight!!! The day started out great with walking and breakfast with hubby.
First downfall- I knew I had to take Mother to the doctor during my lunch hour so I didn't take my lunch. I had cheese nips and an apple.
Second stressor- Mother has dementia and I had to make the first medical decision for her and it was a hard one- her cardiologist said the blockage in her carotid artery was getting worse. The option was to scan and do majory surgery to correct or to continue to treat with medications. I chose to continue with the medications for treatment. She is 85 and every time she has major surgery it takes something from her quality of life. It really bothered me, making that decision for her.
Three strikes and I was out!! I went back to work- hit the break room and had a Little Debbie snack cake. Thought I had it under control. Came home and had various stupid snacks before supper- Hotdog, cheese sandwich, skinny cow icecream bar, another hotdog. Finally we grilled out chicken breast and I had a salad. The bad/sad thing is I feel like the time between the Little Debbie and the salad was a blur--- mindless eating for sure!!!
Hopefully this confession will assist me in gaining control. Stress is a powerful thing!! I'm going to erase this bad day, go to bed and start again tomorrow.
Tomorrow- Walk a mile before work, pack my lunch and snacks, relax!
