I had a minor setback today resulting from work stress.

I've been trying to get to the gym every day because I've been chained to my desk far more than usual lately taking care of some administrative functions and I get the sneaking suspicion that the lack of movement is going to show a weight gain next time I step on the scale. Unfortunately, my attempts to get to the gym have been thwarted at every turn by my coworkers who have been scheduling me for appointments beyond my regular work hours. This wouldn't necessarily be a problem as I have extended my work day in the past to accommodate people with inflexible schedules, but they're not even asking me if it's okay anymore.

Today was going to be my first opportunity to get to my evening water class since Saturday and I have all my equipment in the car. Then I returned to the office from an appointment and found a new appointment on my calendar for 4:45 ("Since you'll already be in that neighborhood anyway.") on the East side of the city, progressing to a location downtown, ending with me 35 minutes away from my 5:00 class at 5:15 PM.

That really irritated me. Enough so that I took a lunch break away from the office which I'm not prone to doing. I went to the grocery store to stock up on fruit, then decided that I needed a cookie, so I bought a package of Raspberry Newtons. Then I passed through the snack aisle and grabbed a bag of BBQ Kettle Chips. On the drive back to the office, I had 5 of the Newtons and about 15 of the chips before throwing it all in the backseat. (Out of sight, out of mind?)

Having since added the calories from my anger binge, I found that it wasn't that big a setback since I'm still significantly under my calories for the day, but it's calories that I blindly crammed into my mouth in the face of stress overload. At least I didn't cheat on the vegetarian diet by scarfing a hamburger, right?

Okay. I feel better now. Back into battle. Today is another day...

That's not fair at all. Can you mention it to someone...like most of the time I do not mind...but can you at least ask? It's def. a problem if it is running into the time that you have set aside for yourself. Or maybe say mon and wed you are ok for extra but the other days leave you the F alone? You sound quite unhappy. That binge was not too bad at all. I hope things settle down for you soon, so you can get back to you.

Unfortunately, I work in a 4 person office where one is the maintenance technician, one is the broker, one is the accounting manager, and the other is me. A large part of my job is showings of our various properties, meaning that I count on being on the move most of the time. Today it was just excessively irritating because I specifically denied appointments to people after 4:30 today because I wanted to give myself time to get to the gym. It looks like I'll just need to enter myself into the scheduling calendar as "off" at 5:00 every day so that only I can schedule late appointments.
