Despite eating nearly nothing, the scales aren't moving. I've not been perfect, but I've eaten much better than normal, but without much progress. I"m convinced that the only way I can lose weight is through an extreme low-carb diet. It's no fun, but it is the only thing that seems to work. Although extreme low-carb isn't realistic for the long term, neither is living on 1,200 calories a day. And when 1,200 calories a day doesn't produce weight loss, it's time to try something else.

Hi, I have been on Atkins for two weeks. You get lots of food. It has been revised recently and isn't so severe. You might check out there website. Wishing you the best.

You will need to eat more than 1200 calories. Maybe that's why the resistance. You should be having 1500 minimum. Make sure you eat all your veggies, too, and hate it as I do, the fat as well. I made this change to eat almost 60% fat and lost like 4 pounds in 3 days. Hang in there!

anelinemf is right, 1200 is not enough. If you are looking at lo-carb, Atkins is a good one, sceintifically proven and you eat enough that you are not hungry. good luck

I started out at 238 and ate about 1500-1700 calories a day for the first 4 months losing about 10-15 pounds a month. More recently, mainly cause I've been exercising a ton, I've switched to lower carb / higher protein and about 2200 calories a day. I felt ok on 1500-1700 until I started exercising lots. Make sure you eat enough.

One of the most important things about losing weight is consistency. You are good one day and eat poorly the next. You have weeks of that. That may be your problem right there. You have to eat healthy consistently or you will yo-yo with the same few pounds up and down. Give it a solid week of eating 100% every day. The days you were 100% you lost, then you went back up when you ate poorly. If you look at your chart you can see. Losing weight is about 80% diet and 20% exercise. Some people can cheat quite a bit and still lose, others can't. Find something and really stick to as much as possible. Consistency is key.
