3.3 miles walked today, 2.6 with doggies.

This afternoon, I had set aside the time to take a shopping trip to a neighboring city. This closest shopping area is a great place BUT...it's only the closest area if one goes by a toll road. Now, I've really got nothing against toll roads, but this one charges excessive fees, IMO. When we first moved here, I envisioned going there on an almost weekly basis. But when I found out what the tolls were (and they were increased in this last year as well), I nixed those plans and only head out there maybe once every 4-6 months!

Today was the day. I went to a book signing to get an early Christmas present for my sister. Also picked up some extra dog food and returned an item at Michael's. I looked at some digital food scales at another place, but couldn't justify the $50 to get one with a nice bowl in addition to the platform. I'll look in Atlanta and see if my opinion changes.

Then, I went to Stein-Mart for the first time; I think I'm in love!!! I couldn't believe how many things I just really liked there. Maybe it's the weight loss, but on rack after rack after rack, I saw things that appealed to me. And, I never set foot in their plus size area!! Sure, I needed the XLs in the regular sizes, but that's OK at this point; even at goal weight, I'll be in Larges and even a few XLs then too. Tried on a few things, but didn't end up buying anything today. It felt great walking around in the regular sizes and not feeling like I was someone who could only be buying a gift for someone else. All of a sudden, the tolls to get to this store might just be worth it.

As a side note on food: No peanut butter today - I like it too much. I did have some regular peanuts, though and it seems I can make do with 1 serving just fine. And, I noticed that I wasn't hungry at various times in the day today, as I have been on the days with peanut butter. Although it could be because I was busy and not focusing on food, I think it's more likely due to the added sugar in the peanut butter, as I have regular Jif peanut butter, not "natural" or "reduced sugar."

Sounds like a fun day! Shopping in the regular sizes!!! Exceptionally fun!!! So glad you tried some things on...just gives you that little boost to keep going. Looking forward to the day when you try something on, and you just can't walk away without taking it home with you, because you know you looked SOOOOO good in it! That makes you feel like a million bucks! (and totally getchya on the toll roads!) LOL! But once in a while, ... that'll work! Much Love.

Hi Paula! As an "old" retailer, I truly love all of it, but esp. women's fashions (go figure!). But even when working in the field, there were times when a particular line of merchandise, dresses for example, did not appeal to me at all, for sometimes more than 1 season. Other times, MOST of women's fashion did not appeal. It really went/goes in cycles. There was a time when none of the dresses looked good for several seasons. Then there was the time in one season, POOF!, all color disappeared in women's fashions. It was crazy; one season had wonderful, varied colors and the very next it was all gone in favor of black, white, gray, and taupe. And, don't get me started on material!! For the last few years, I've hated that thin, cheap polyester "fabric" that's mostly unfinished and used on way too many things, IMO. Well, yesterday, FINALLY, I saw some unique details that didn't look like a bunch of amateur sewers stitched up a garment as fast as they could with the cheapest material they could find. Maybe there's hope yet!! Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your weekend.

I love 'quality'...I just can't afford much of it!! LOL! Once in a while I find the best deals on the clearance rack - and BAM! That baby is coming home w/ me!!! Otherwise, I just enjoy trying different styles. Truly love watching that show... 'what not to wear'... I have learned a TON of stuff! Hope you enjoy your weekend too!
