Well, been wearing the Bodybugg again to keep myself on track. I was happy to learn that the calories I'm burning match how tired I feel. I guess this whole healing process takes a lot of energy. I know it's felt that way. With 1 hour of therapy and just running errands I'm burning as many calories a day as I was with a 1 hr 700 calorie burning workout plus other work. So as long as I keep the food in check I should be just fine.

I'm looking forward to getting on the bike tomorrow. Will try to go after therapy, see if I have the stamina to do it then. I'm really looking to build that stamina back up. It's always improving, but not as fast as I would like of course.

The strength and balance in the rebuilt knee is still pretty dismal. Working through it and need to pull out some of that inner drive and tenacity to get me through. I've said it before and I'll say it again. I was warned going into this that it's a LONG and tough recovery. So mentally I was prepared, or so I thought, but living it is a totally different thing. I just have to remind myself that come summertime this should all be a thing of the past and I will be capable of things I haven't been able to do in over 20 years.

In all I've pretty much been hold my own weight wise and being able to bike should help with that. I was very frustrated that I needed to have this done right as I was catching my stride and making such awesome progress. I really wanted to wait until the weight was off and then fix it, but my dr assured me I wouldn't get there if I didn't have this done. It was a time to fix it rather than fight it.

I share this part of the journey so that others will see that if you need to have surgery or something mid-journey the progress you've made is not for not. It's just a speed bump. Continue to do what you've learned. Work within your limitations and try to be patient with yourself. You will get there.

Have a great day everyone. Off to church.

What a great attitude you have. I agree with you. By this Summer, you will have so much more strength. Can you see/feel a big difference since the first couple of weeks since surgery? You sound very determined.

You are doing fantastic...and yes, by summer this will all be a thing of the past, and you will be healed and ready to go!

Kendra, that's a great question. I was getting a little frustrated with the pace of my progress, which was part of the reason for the journal entry, a personal pep talk. However, today at therapy there were a couple of patients who had obviously just recently had surgery....I watched....I decided, I've come a LONG way baby! There's just still a long way to go. But it was good to have the reminder about how far I've come. Thanks for the encouragement!

@ctlss, Thanks for your encouragement too. You can tell patience is a virtue I'm still working to perfect. ;-)
