I miss exercise.

Now, I should state here that yes, I'm pretty active and have been for the last week or so - I did all that walking in Manhattan, I pulled all those crazy shifts last week between school and work and I've been pretty nutso busy this week too so far.

But today was an absolutely gorgeous early fall day here and I really wanted to go for a walk/slow jog when I got out of work. Sadly, there was no time for that as I had to make the 40 minute drive to school and get back to the mountain of homework from last week that I didn't have time to tackle yet. So no real good sweaty, music filled walk/jog for me.

I also miss hot meals and making dinner. I don't think I've actually cooked in over a week. It's sad but I'm actually looking forward to tomorrow because I'm getting free lunch again at work and that means I can actually eat something hot. Yeah, I can probably bring in something to heat up but that takes time away from me studying/going outside - two things I desperately need to do these days. (I work in a room with no windows and horrid fluoroscent lighting).

I don't mind it a few days a week but I think after last week it's just tough and I have another 3 weeks of class on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday (and Saturday morning) before I drop back to just Monday and Wednesday (which are more doable.) I kind of knew this was going to suck for the beginning part of the semester but I wanted to get as close to halfway through this degree as I could in case I end up laid off again and need to try to intern in the summer. (I like having options and multiple backup plans, I'm anal like that.)

Also realized tonight I'm ushering on Thursday after work. I'm not entirely nuts about that because I was hoping to have that night to myself (I'd signed up weeks ago before I knew all the crap I'd have over the past two weeks.) Thankfully, the theater is close and I'm hoping I can leave after late seating. I really don't want to cancel on them even if I am a volunteer because I genuinely like the people and the theater. So we'll see, if I feel up to it, I might see the show (which is one of the main reasons I usher - seeing the show free) but I'm signed up for another performance of this show in October when I'll hopefully have more energy.

Got to wear a top and pair of pants to work that haven't fit me in over a year today which was fun. My wardrobe options are expanding every week without me actually having to shop since I find I'm fitting into stuff in my closet that I haven't been able to wear before. That's kinda awesome :) Although, seriously, I should not wear peep toe heels if I insist on carrying my 20lb backpack up 4 flights of stairs. My feet don't like that, lol.

Affirmations for today:
1) Every day you teach people how to treat you, if you accept bad behavior, you teach people it's okay to treat you badly.

2) Standing my ground doesn't always mean yelling at the top of my lungs or causing a fit

3) Today's hard work will pay off tomorrow.

I was just telling a coworker today something very similar about people treating you as you let them. Really, they treat you the way you act like you deserve to be treated. I think that is what is really meant by "commanding respect" Respect my authoritah! Lol :). I know what you mean about missing working out. I always miss it if something gets in the way. Hope you find some time for you soon!

HOPEFULLY, Thursday but it's seriously looking like Friday at this point. It's almost midnight and I'm reading a finance textbook. Yuck.

k8yk and you are very wise regarding how people treat you. I will tell my little one the very words both of you used so she can face her peers with strength. Looking at things from a different perspective can really help. Good luck protecting your exercise, I know from experience it can be difficult but with determination you may find you get more days in if you can find a way somehow. Somedays we win and some days we can't:) TOWANDA!!!!

Indeed it sounds like a crazy time for you lately!! I can imagine why it is so difficult to fit in exercise ... I have a tough enough time and I only have one full time job!! LOL!!! I've been reading a book that suggests a daily meditation practice, about an hour a day and found myself thinking ... yeah right ... like when would I do that?? I'm NOT giving up my exercise!! LOL!!! Hang in there kid!!! These are just incredibly busy moments ... you can do it!!!

Well, eventually it will settle down but right now I'm in class 12 hours a week, PLUS working full time PLUS driving 40 minutes each way to school. Last week was insane with the amount of hours I worked and I think I'm probably still a little tired from that. Then of course, me being me, I take on a bunch of other stuff too. Once I get a little caught up more with sleep/schoolwork I think it's going to be easier.

I totally understand that crazy busy feeling. You sound like you really have a great attitude about it all though and know that you are moving in the right direction. :) That is awesome. I LOVE your affirmations today... so true! Especially about letting people treat you badly. Good luck with navigating the craziness.

At the end of the day, I'm this busy because I choose to be. I don't have to be in an MBA program and I certainly don't have to take so many classes at once. However, I want to graduate in 2012 and I want to have options so I do what I have to do to make that happen. I've discovered over the past year that I'm way more patient than I ever thought. By that, I'm willing to put up with annoyances to steadily work toward something I want. I did 20 credits in a year which is a LOT for part-time.
