Hello! I am looking forward to reaching my goal weight but was somewhat confused about how to maintain it. MummyDee and wholefoodnut (and a bunch of other people) mentioned the link to find your true RDI, in order to lose weight, gain weight or maintain weight. I finally looked at the RDI calculator to see how to maintain my goal weight. It said that if I am sedentary I can maintain my goal weight by eating 1400 calories a day. If I am active three days a week, I can have 1600 calories a day. I do not want to sit around and stop walking. It keeps me healthy and it definitely keeps my cholesterol lower. So my plan is to keep track of my food and compare it to my calories burned in exercise. Maintenance will not be easy, but I think I can handle it! http://www.calculator.net/calorie-calculator.html

Hi, everyone! Hope you are well. My old scale (before I joined FS) would only register a whole number or half a pound, and it would not budge at all. It would stay the same weight for 10-14 days and then suddenly drop 2.5 pounds. That was torture to weigh in every day hoping to lose weight, and see nothing, then a shock when it finally dropped. That's why I bought the new scale. lol

Eating so many treats between Halloween and New Year's Day used to mean a 10 lb gain for me, every year. Mindful eating keeps me going. That and my doctor's threat to add medications. lol

Someone was asking about motivation. Almost five years ago I was looking on the Internet for motivation. I found a webpage with tips to keep motivated. I never signed up with them, just looked at their tips. motivation123.com

Before I joined FatSecret I was walking very little. 300 steps was about it. I am retired so I was walking from the computer to the kitchen three times a day. After I got my pedometer heart rate monitor, I walked about 1300 steps on a "good" day, when I bought groceries. On the day that I joined FS, November 25, I only walked 785 steps, because I was sitting at the computer reading everything. ;) I knew that I had to walk more and eat less. Today I checked my data on my step count and saw that four days after I joined FS I walked 4027 steps! In the month before my February doctor appointment I was walking an average of 5280 steps a day. So I think joining FS was the best thing that ever happened to me, for many reasons. The things I have learned from the members here cannot be enumerated. Thank all of you for the support and encouragement! Even after my doctor appointment, I was not slacking off and walked an average of 4146 steps each day. As I approach my goal weight I have been walking less, but my food choices are low calorie and I am never hungry. If I have a restaurant meal or dinner at someone else's house, I walk more steps earlier in the day to make sure that I never burn less calories than I consume. This plan is working for me. :)
