Perspective...

I am really starting to dig the whole foods WOE and you can do that and stay on your respective paths. The idea that your body is your temple and we need to nourish it and our minds to lead us down a healthier path. I am as guilty as the next esp in the past but I find what is in some processed foods appalling.

This image really put the whole thing into perspective and set me to thinking today.



And to me it is like this if you would not feed your infant this then why would you ever give it to your older children or consider eating it yourself? The image for me is high impact when you think of it in that respect. I am trying very hard to get out of the *easy* methods where things come out of boxes or cans and buying more fresh and requiring my kids to make better choices and they have to have veggies at their dinner meal even if it is raw carrots and cucumbers. Better than what is behind the label of unpronounceable words.

I am my no means perfect but we have cleaned up our eating a ton... Not that I have thrown out the chicken nuggets... yet... (Ty would kill me), but I am limiting how much and how often they can have them. If I can come up with my own that I can freeze and they can easily make on fend for yourself night I will... Once the kitchen is up and running and I am done with the reno... this will become more of a reality in my home.

You've got to be kidding with that picture, is it real? That's great you've worked on your clean eating and teaching your kids too. I'm working on mine but it still needs more work.

Can only shake my head. My current quirk is giving kiddies a pouch of food and letting them suck on it and feed themselves. What happened to the interaction and bonding when feeding a baby?

For fast food where I live is only burger king. Since I had my gallbladder out the smell of the grease from burger king makes me wast to puke so I haven't eaten there in years, and you know what? I don't miss it.

Your general message is nice, but you wouldn't feed an infant lots of suitable, healthy things that you'd eat as an adult. Also a lot of those words that seem daunting to pronounce are direct extracts from things we take for granted like plants and veggies. Engineering our diets has allowed us to make amazing advancements in terms of health and longevity. The haber process practically saved humanity form starvation.

you can make low carb nuggets by cutting up chicken breast and bread with coco or almond flour.. or pork rinds... and egg beaters

I hate to say I am thankful for it but the celiac really cleaned up the kids diet. As long as they never find out skittles don't have wheat. ... .............

This was meant as perspective more than anything and no the pic is not real it was a meme spoof on it. I just wanted to hear others thoughts in general. LeGod but the point is why not eat the whole instead of waiting for them to reinject it into the mix. And granted you might not feed some things to infants but tribeswomen and men will chew food and feed it to an infant, the same foods they would eat and survive. I hand mashed and cooked without additives froze them in ice cube trays, then could thaw and reheat as needed... often same meals I fed myself.

I did the same thing for my son. Had a large garden the summer before his birth and filled the freezer with bags of veggies.

I even hate using the microwave as a kitchen tool - only as is absolutely necessary - taught the kids to use the toaster oven instead and working on other methods of cooking and a lot of times they do use them instead of the microwave.... I am not living in fear I am just thinking more about what I am putting into my body and passing these things along to my kids. They will make their own choices ultimately but I hope I am steering them in a healthier way of thinking.

FYI, I did feed my children s babies the same foods I ate. I ground them up, pureed them when they were small. I ground whole grains to make baby cereal, I ate whole non processed foods then. My girls were born in 1975, 1978. and 1980 back then baby food was loaded with salt and tons of sugar. Yes, I fed my children the same food I ate as an adult.

Ive been using the recipes on the keto diet blog and OMG they are all so good! Thank you so much again for sending me in the right direction - the food is fantastic and I am losing - I saw one of the doctors in the clinic and almost had a fight with him - he is not my regular doctor but he had no idea what glucogenisis was, told me to cut back on my fat and salt and increase my protein! (all the things that were stopping me in the first place!!) I'm loving eating real foods :)
