Today is git 'r done day! Skipped the walking to save energy in order to finish these darn floors. I am tired of working it has been one of the most exhausting jobs we have done because I think it has taken the longest for a single *project*. The walls down 2 days for each room, the insulation was like 2 days per room maybe 3-4 on the kitchen because it was as large as the previous 2 rooms. Painting was 3-4 days per room kitchen was 5+. So you get the point. It has been over 2 weeks since we started the floors and yes there have been days when they recieved no attn at all but when we do it is alot of energy. I do not know how the flooring guys pound out a pace like this in 3 days. It is mind boggling to consider getting this all done in only 3 days. We did not even get 1/3 done in that time. I know we are not professionals but dang!

ANyway no eloquent prose for you all as I lack inspiration. Just full of dread to try and work on this all darn day. I will be starting moments after this is posted.

I would much rather do what is in this poem than these floors one more day. Pray for me today is going to be taxing.

Yes but they will be/are gorgeous! Kind of like a weight loss journey, hard work but worth it in the end when you see/feel the results.

I guess the guy who wrote that must have called in and said "Sorry, boss, I'm just feeling way too freaking awesome to come to work today!" I may have to try that one day soon.

i am to the transition where we leveled the floor. Well my contractor did but the old sub floor and the new sub do not meet evenly. high on one in low on the other and vice versa depending on which sub floor you look at. we used roofing tar paper 30# the super thick stuff nearly 1/8 in thick and I think I am going to pad the low areas with it as it also serves the purpose of reducing squeaky floors so hoping it will allow me some forgiveness with less work. Waiting on hubby to get home to make final decisions so I have a little break.

i would love that it was only 4x6 but being the floor in the bay, Jerri means weir angles too. I hope your your sake your floor is level and square and has no transitions. The bay floor is about 10 x 4

Reminds me of a darn window I have to re trim thats crazy crooked. Putting it off because I can't figure out how I am going to fix it.

Amazing what we run into re-doing things. Kelly, hope your bay window floor went well. Mine will be a challenge as there are 3 different floors that have to be evened out somehow in that small space. Crazy, that's why it isn't done yet. LOL.

Did not make it... we are down to a paltry amount of good boards and 2 on every row has to be cut all wonky and it sincerely slowed us down, as did that darn transition. Spent alot of time making things as *right* as we could and still have 7 rows left. and we are also to the point that the floor nailer is moot and cannot use it as much and in a couple more rows it will cease to be a useful tool. UPS came way late thus no help til after 3 pm, Aunt Elaine also showed up and was chatty and poor Ron never has the heart to tell her he is too busy so that also delayed him another hour. and I had customers in the shop. Then an hour to cook dinner because I had nothing left that was quick and easy and had to cook. So I did some game adding while waiting but the floor is still not done. :( We could stay at it but we have 3-4 more hours if things go well and we have to cut around a radiator pipe among other things and power tools just not as safe to use when fatigue really sets in. So, tomorrow morning we will get back to it after orders are shipped. So, I am going to bring the boxes of kitchen stuff down from upstairs and unpack some of it. Mostly food assorted foodstuffs, spices and the like, but it would give us a little room to move up their.

Your floor is going to look awesome when you're done! Those DIY shows make everything look like it should only take a weekend. When they encounter a problem they solve it within a few minutes. For me it takes a lot longer. But once it is done it is something to be proud of!

Closer, that is what counts. I bet it felt good to unpack a few things. Get some sleep.
