Thinking I have finally found a tool that will help guide me on the Atkins Diet. Now if I can remember all I eat I will do great.

I'm with you Klj039's, this site is the best for Atkin's. I didn't know you can count the net carbs on any site. It makes life so much easier.

I find if I carry a pen and paper with me and write it down as it is going in my mouth, I do better. Then when on the computer, you will have the info to put in when you have a minute. Hope you have a wonderful day and a great journey through Atkins.:)

The only problem I've found with Fat Secret and Atkin's is that they do not have a field for Sugar Alcohols. So, when it calculates net carbs, it's only subtracting Fiber from the Total Carbs. To get arounnd this, I just subtract the Sugar Alcohols from the Total and enter that for the Total Carbs, then Fiber. Not a big deal, but it would be nice to keep track of everything.

oooh. Hey newengland, I must need to read some more literature, because as I understood it, subtracting fiber from the total carbs is the way to get your total carb count. What's all this business about sugar alcohols? Have I been messing up my own diet? Anyway, I actually wanted to say something to Klj039 which is, I always end up on my computer in the morning so I try to plan out what I am going to eat and put it all in my diet calendar first thing. At least breakfast and lunch. I've found its really helpful (especially on Atkins) to plan ahead. :) good luck!

thanks everyone. looks like I went over in my carbs alittle 5.33 over as a matter of fact. I Did do an intense workout tho HIP HOP ABS Cardio Burn for 30 minutes.

Hi at348am, if you've stayed under your carb count each day by only subtracting fiber, then you shouldn't have anything to be worried about. Sugar alcohols have a minimal effect on blood sugar levels (for most people!). I was under the impression that you just subtracted dietary fiber and sugar alcohols right from the Total Carbs. Then, I found this article stating that some of the sugar alcohols can still get partially converted to glucose and that you should only subtract half from the Total Carbs. http://forecast.diabetes.org/magazine/ask-experts/what-are-net-carbs So, it looks like I needed to read some more literature. From my experience, I've found the sugar alcohols don't have much affect on my blood sugar levels, so I can get away with eating a few pieces of sugar free candy every night. You should consume sugar alcohols in moderation anyway because of the laxative effect. The Atkins diet can already dehydrate us, so losing more fluids by consuming a lot of sugar alcohol would make it worse.
