No gym today. I went to Walmart and walked around for almost 2 hrs doing some last minute back to school shopping for my 2 boys. Whew! I think that wore me out probably more than the gym did. Someone here (don't remember who now) recommended that I get an activity tracker.... I took a week researching and telling myself that I deserved this 'uncessary item' ( this was harder than the actual research). Even after I brought it home, I kept thinking of the things I needed to get the boys and that I didn't need it. I forced myself to just get over those feelings. Anyway, I'm using it and right off the bat, I see how little I walk around... I barely go 4000 steps each day, without the gym. Hopefully I go to the gym tomorrow so I can test it and see my steps. The fit bit app has a food diary but I dont know if I would use it. I really like fatsecret and I dont think I would do two good logs.... we'll see. So far so good :-)

I love my step counter tracker. When I was counting lol I was losing faster than now. You start doing 4 then when the least you expect it you will be doing 10000. You deserve it cause you need to be healthy for your boys

I suggested it in response to a comment you made about the complexity of calorie counting or maybe it waa about online calorie estimators? As a tool activity trackers provide a lot of information. It can also automate/simplify some of the work when learning about food/calories and when trying to set goals. I struggled with the cost at first too. Having used it for a couple of months now; I'm glad I bought it. I've learned a lot by using it.

I agree with you all, I am seeing the benefit but when you are "penny pinching", one tends to question every purchase lol. I will get over it, in time. Once I receive my first weekly summary, I will get an idea of the amount of calories I am burning. Thanks for the support :-D

If you have both the fatsecret app (FS) and the fitbit app (FB) installed on your smart phone you can setup FS to pull the calories burned info from the FB. There's lot of different combinations; so everyone needs to figure out what works for them, below is what I do: *I enter all my food eaten into FS *I don't enter any food eaten into FB *I keep track of my weight in both apps, as it will effect any calorie burned calculations *I have setup FS to pull calories burned info from the FB; which means I don't need to enter any excercises within Fatsecret. *Since FS has both calorie in & calorie out; I use the FS built in reporting to track my caloric deficits, my macros, and some of the more important vitamins & minerals (potassium & sodium are the big ones for me) *I use FB for tracking my sleep, excercise details, heart rate, and activity (steps, stairs, & excercise intensity)
